On Thursday in the Premier League, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United square off for three points at Molineux.
In a contentious FA Cup fourth-round match on Sunday, Wolves defeated Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion 2-0 on the road. They drew goallessly with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium prior to that.
However, in their own FA Cup match, Manchester United overcame a possible scare against League Two team Newport County, winning 4-2 at Rodney Parade to advance to the next round. Now, Erik ten Hag’s team will focus on the Premier League, where they last played, drawing 2-2 at home against Tottenham Hotspur.
The lifeblood of this Manchester United team is Bruno Fernandes. He timed his runs efficiently, locates gaps well, and frequently takes chances in the last part of the game. The Portuguese striker proved his skill as a creator and goal scorer on Sunday in the FA Cup against Newport County with a stunning low drive.
The captain of Manchester United has the ability to cause havoc against Wolves if he is given time and space with the ball in the center of the park. Mario Lemina will therefore need to play well in midfield for Wolves. The Gabonese serves as both a driving force and a shield, often starting attacks from a distance.
If the hosts intend to stop Fernandes from making an impact, Lemina has to bring his A-game to the floor on Thursday.
