The New England Patriots are reportedly in talks to bring Ben McAdoo onto their offensive staff, as per a Saturday report from Albert Breer of The MMQB. McAdoo, aged 46, previously held a 13-15 record as the head coach of the New York Giants until his dismissal in the final month of the 2017 season. Prior to that, he led the Giants to an NFC wild card appearance in the season before, ultimately winning Super Bowl XLV.
In 2020, McAdoo worked as the quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and then served as a consultant with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. His most recent role was as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2022 under former head coach Matt Rhule. However, there’s a connection in Foxborough, as he now crosses paths with Jerod Mayo, the 15th head coach in Patriots franchise history.
Interestingly, McAdoo has prior connections with Patriots director of scouting Eliot Wolf and the new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt from their shared time with the Green Bay Packers, where McAdoo worked from 2006 to 2013 in roles such as tight ends coach and quarterbacks coach.
