The Premiership rivals of Hearts and Hibs are still in the race, so activity is ongoing even though the January transfer market closed earlier this week. On the day of the deadline, Adam Idah and Oscar Cortes were signed by Celtic and Rangers, respectively.

Despite not having anybody walk through the door on Thursday, Aberdeen may be about to announce the arrival of a major player in the dugout given the dismissal of Barry Robson. Rangers may possibly strengthen their offensive lineup if Dwight Gayle’s release from Stoke City results in him returning. This week, Gayle became a free agent, and according to the Scottish Sun, a transfer north of the border may be in the works.

In January, Phillipe Clement was able to bolster his position up front thanks to two encouraging loan agreements. Oscar Cortes entered from RC Lens on the day of the deadline, while Fabio Silva signed from Wolves for the balance of the campaign.
