The second person to pass away in the artificial lake at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles since it opened in 2020 is a man who drowned.
The man, who was apparently in his early 20s, went into the lake on Friday night about 9:30 p.m. and never came out.
A dive team was dispatched to the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers stadium, according to the Los Angeles Times, and they started a rescue effort right away.
The man was discovered shortly before 11 p.m., and although the diving crew tried CPR on him, he was eventually declared deceased on the spot.
This is the second time a person has passed away in the 15-foot-deep lake outside the $5 billion stadium since it opened in 2020.
We learned of the death of an individual last evening with deep sadness, according to a statement released by SoFi Stadium.
We extend our sincere sympathies to the person’s friends and family on their loss. We are thinking of them during this trying time.
