Na’eem Offord Picks Ohio State: 5-Star Cornerback Commits to the Buckeyes After Considering Alabama, Colorado, and Other Schools

Although head coach Ryan Day faced some criticism about his coaching performance, particularly after a series of losses, including one against Michigan and a lackluster showing in the Cotton Bowl Classic, his position seems secure for now. The team also faced some uncertainty during the recruitment of Jeremiah Smith, 247Sports’ top-ranked recruit for 2024, which added to the tension.
However, the Buckeyes have made significant moves in the transfer portal, securing key players like safety Caleb Downs, quarterback Julian Sayin, and running back Quinshon Judkins, along with adding depth with Seth McLaughlin and Will Howard.
Offord’s commitment strengthens Ohio State’s defensive lineup, joining Devin Sanchez, who committed in January, as the second 5-star cornerback prospect for the 2025 class.
Describing Offord’s skills, 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins noted his versatility as a cornerback with the ability to match up against larger receivers and cover deep passes effectively. Offord exhibits proficiency in both press-man and off-man coverage techniques, displaying fluidity and agility despite his height, along with a willingness to contest catches and intercept passes.
While Offord’s commitment remains pending until he signs his letter of intent, Ohio State appears poised to field a formidable secondary for the 2025 season.
