Kyogo Furuhashi, a striker for Celtic, has not performed as well this season as he did in 2022–2023. The Japanese striker has scored eleven goals in all competitions so far this season, which is below his usual level.
While he has produced some incredible moments in Glasgow derbies, Kyogo has often fallen short of expectations under Brendan Rodgers. He hasn’t engaged himself in any of the bouts, staying still.
He has typically played alone at the top of the pitch, but against Aberdeen, for a brief while, that all changed. Adam Idah, a recent addition, gave the Hoops’ offense a promising appearance.
It was recently brought to light by analyst and former Celt Chris Sutton that Kyogo was far more active. “I may be wrong, but Kyogo, since the substitutions and him playing in a different position, it has probably seen him have more touches during that little period than the entire game,” he added (live on Sky Sports via 67 Hail Hail).
Sutton’s assumption is accurate. During the game, Kyogo made three shots, all of which were in the period when he played a little bit deeper.
The 28-year-old was definitely aided by the entrance of Idah as the main character, who gave him considerably more flexibility and involvement. Brendan Rodgers would do well to employ a system like to the one in place at Easter Road when the game concluded on Saturday in order to maximize the attacking options available to him.
