Giants Reject Seahawks’ Mike Kafka Interview Bid

FEB. 4 SEAHAWKS UNABLE TO INTERVIEW MIKE KAFKA
In their search for an offensive coordinator to join Mike Macdonald’s staff, the Seattle Seahawks targeted New York Giants coach Mike Kafka for an interview for the head coaching position last month. However, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reports that the Giants have blocked the Seahawks’ request to interview Kafka. Consequently, the Seahawks must explore other options as they continue their quest to fill the role of the team’s next offensive leader.

JAN. 25 PANTHERS CLOSE TO HIRING CANALES
Dave Canales, a former assistant for the Seahawks, seems poised to become the next head coach of the Carolina Panthers rather than returning to Seattle to succeed Pete Carroll. NFL Network indicates that the Panthers are “closing in” on hiring Canales. After a lengthy tenure on Carroll’s offensive staff, Canales served as the coordinator for the Buccaneers this season, notably contributing to the resurgence of Baker Mayfield in Tampa. Canales, known for developing receivers like Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin, and Tyler Lockett in Seattle, appears to be the Panthers’ preferred choice. Despite initially planning an interview with former Titans coach Mike Vrabel, the Panthers have reportedly shifted towards finalizing a deal with Canales, as ESPN describes it as a “done deal.”
