Sawyer Deering Provides Insight Into His Decision to Commit to the University of Tennessee Vols

Tennessee baseball has recently enjoyed a successful run on the recruiting front, securing commitments from coveted prospects. Among these recruits is Sawyer Deering, a right-handed pitcher and batter from the class of 2025, who pledged his commitment to the Volunteers on November 13th. Although he plays both outfield and pitcher positions, Deering intends to focus on pitching as a Tennessee Volunteer.

In a conversation with Volunteer Country following his commitment, Deering highlighted the culture fostered by Coach V and the coaching staff as a key factor in his decision. He admires the familial atmosphere and the way Coach Vitello manages the program, which influenced his commitment to Tennessee.

Deering has prior connections with some of Tennessee’s commits and players, having played alongside Carson Brumbaugh and Tate Strickland, as well as meeting Drew Beam, AJ Russell, and Christian Moore during his visit. Their advice to Deering was to follow his heart in his decision-making process, a message that resonated with him deeply.

Looking ahead, Deering eagerly anticipates the opportunity to compete in top-tier baseball within the highly competitive conference and to become part of the Volunteer family.
