‘Lewis is back where people love him’ – Hibs boss throws arm around Socceroos defender
Hibs manager Nick Montgomery claims that Australian defender Lewis Miller, who is now under pressure, is back among those who “love” him. And after his horror at the Asian Cup, the coach acknowledges that he had to wrap an arm around the Socceroos fullback.
Miller may make a comeback to the starting lineup for Celtic’s visit to Easter Road tomorrow night. Both he and fellow Australian international Martin Boyle are back at East Mains training, and both are ready to go if needed.
While Boyle’s debut international tournament was characterized by individual achievement, Miller was demonized on social media on Friday after giving up a penalty and a free kick that allowed South Korea to overtake Australia and eliminate them from the competition.
Despite being one of the favorites to win the whole competition, Graham Arnold’s squad was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
“That was a really difficult moment for Lewis,” Montgomery admitted. Anyone familiar with the game’s past is aware that blunders can be made by players at crucial situations.
Lewis is a wonderful young man who exudes confidence. But everyone will be impacted by it. The most crucial thing is that we have supported him ever since his return.
“The folks at the club are wonderful. I’ve been spending time with Lewis, giving him support and encouragement, as he has to take action right now. Errors happen to everyone. as long as it teaches you something.
Lewis is more disappointed than anybody else about what transpired, but he’s still a young player, and he’s back here with the lads who support and adore him. Returning to the game and playing as best he can is the best course of action for him.
As Hibs attempt to recover from their terrible 3-0 home loss to St Mirren on Saturday, Monty said that both the Socceroos and Lewis Miller were ready to go, saying, “If you know anything about Martin Boyle and Lewis Miller, you’ll know they just want to get back playing football.” Martin is someone you want back on the squad since he scored his first goal at a major event after missing six weeks.
Lewis has been a key member of the international squad and has advanced through the ranks rather quickly. He wasn’t on the team when I arrived, but he quickly established himself and gained access to the international squad. He has experienced a great deal in the last six months.
Although Paul Hanlon returned to the training ground yesterday, he is still unwell. Chris Cadden is anticipated to return to the bench, but he is not well enough to start his first game since the conclusion of the last campaign. With only two points from his last six Premiership games, Montgomery is aware of the strain he is under.
“Anyone who knows me knows I’ve had a lot of adversity in my life and my career,” the Yorkshireman stated. You need to be resilient in these situations. I believe my resilience.
“I can relate to the supporters’ dissatisfaction since I was just as upset as they were over the weekend’s outcome. We’re putting a lot of effort into fixing the issues that occurred.
As a manager, there are highs and lows. Now is the moment to persevere; the lads returning from their overseas service will greatly assist us. Furthermore, the incoming lads have a somewhat better tactical understanding of how we operate.
Any job involves pressure, but it’s particularly high at a team like Hibs. I give in to the pressure. When I took the position, I knew there would be a reconstruction, so I welcomed the challenge.
“I am aware of the club’s overall direction. However, at this moment, I recognize the necessity of regaining some shape.
