The management of Rangers International football club announces the successful acquisition of six new players to bolster the team’s pursuit of a top position in the 2023/2024 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The upcoming phase of the league is scheduled to kick off on February 14, 2024, according to Amobi Ezeaku, the General Manager/CEO of Rangers, who made the announcement during a press briefing in Enugu on Tuesday.

Among the newly signed players are Uchenna Ezeala, a former central defender from 3SC of Ibadan, and Zulkifilu Mohammed Rabiu, a support striker who recently played for Lobi Stars of Makurdi. Additionally, the club has welcomed Odo Joshua Chidiebere, who returns from Saudi Arabia; Ogbodo Kelechi Emmanuel, from a Football Academy; Aniji Ifeanyichukwu Michael, from Flying Angels FC; and Nebo Tochukwu Kingsley, from Olicon Rovers FC, all based in Enugu.

Ezeaku stated that these new additions would fill the positions left vacant by players such as Joel Okoro, Leonard Ugochukwu, Malachi Ohawume, Jonas Emmanuel, Barnabas Ingya, and others who have been loaned out to various clubs in both premier and lower leagues.

Describing the new signings as talented players, Ezeaku expressed confidence that they would provide the necessary support to the coaching staff in the quest for success in both the league and federation cup.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu expressed readiness for the upcoming challenges, stating that the team’s recruitment strategy combines both youthful energy and seasoned experience to contend for trophies in the ongoing season.

Currently positioned 10th in the 20-team league, Rangers are poised to improve their standing as they approach the second phase of the competition.
