After starting at left back in all 30 of Celtic’s games this season, the defender sustained a knock to his calf during the Scottish Cup encounter against Buckie Thistle, forcing him to miss the last two games.
Alexandro Bernabei, who has only made four substitute appearances, started at left back against Aberdeen and Ross County as Celtic was struggling on all fronts. In those games, he scored two goals due to deflections.
Although Taylor will not be playing against Hibs on Wednesday night, Aaron Rodgers seemed upbeat when speaking about his comeback. Ireland Live reports:
After Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Aberdeen, Celtic will otherwise go to Edinburgh with an unchanged team, with Greg Taylor still recovering from a calf issue.
But on Sunday in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup against St Mirren, the left-back may make a comeback.
Rodgers stated, “We will see how he is over the weekend, but he is out on the field.”
“He is progressing quite nicely; the only thing left to do is get the medical team’s approval.” He will be prepared for the next game if it isn’t the weekend.
Daizen Maeda returned to training today following three away games while on international service, and he might play against Hibs tomorrow.
After Hibs’ 3-0 home loss to St. Mirren on Saturday, Rodgers brings his team to Easter Road with the knowledge that, in his four trips there as Celtic manager, he has failed to get a victory.
