Cruzeiro has announced that Jose Cifuentes, who joined the team on loan from Rangers, will arrive next week.

Shortly after announcing his signature, Cruzeiro announced on its official X account on Wednesday, February 7, that Cifuentes is now addressing the final administrative matters for his arrival in Brazil.

The midfield player will join Rangers on a 12-month loan with a buyout option; the transaction has also been announced by Rangers [official Rangers X account, 7 February].

Cifuentes arrived at Ibrox in the summer, having just recently moved from Los Angeles FC to Glasgow. He hasn’t actually been here long.

When Michael Beale, the manager at the time, announced the transfer, there was a great deal of enthusiasm surrounding it.

However, like some of his earlier acquisitions, Cifuentes has not settled well at Ibrox. The club’s current manager, Philippe Clement, is obviously not a fan, as evidenced by the fact that he let the player leave during his first transfer window.

The 24-year-old has made 20 appearances for the German team, playing in the League Cup, Europa League, and Scottish Premiership.

However, he has now departed Scotland for Brazil on a one-year loan, which, if everything goes well, may well become a permanent arrangement.

For the midfielder, who won the MLS Cup with LAFC and played for Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup, it has been quite the collapse.

However, this transfer may potentially spark a new spark in his career; Clement may now periodically review his displays to see if he has a future at Ibrox.
