This week, Football Scoop reported that Jancek was cut from the LSU Tigers.
Prior to the 2022 season, Jancek became an analyst for LSU. In 2023, he led the Tigers as their outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.
John Brice of Football Scoop revealed that Jancek, who will celebrate his 56th birthday this spring, intends to carry on as a coach.
From 2013 to 2015, Jancek was the defensive coordinator at Tennessee. Tennessee boasted the No. 17 scoring defense in the country during his final season with the Vols, giving up only 20.0 points per contest.
After the 2015 season, Vols head coach Butch Jones fired Jancek and appointed Bob Shoop as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator in advance of the 2016 campaign.
The decision backfired as the Vols’ defense declined in 2016, letting up 28.8 points per game (ranked 78th in the country) in Shoop’s debut season.
Tennessee’s defense gave up 20.3 points per game last season, which ranked No. 23 in the country. It was the Vols’ greatest defensive campaign since Jancek’s last year in Knoxville.
In 2023, Jack, Jancek’s son, was a redshirt junior wide receiver at Tennessee.
