Nick Sirianni expresses excitement as Eagles formally confirm Kellen Moore’s appointment.

On Monday afternoon, the Eagles formally announced the appointment of experienced coach Kellen Moore as their new offensive coordinator.

In conjunction with the announcement, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni issued the following statement:

“Kellen Moore brings a wealth of experience as an accomplished offensive coordinator, a former NFL player, and a Heisman finalist. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership of offenses at various levels of the sport, earning the trust and respect of his players and colleagues. With profound football acumen, Kellen has emerged as a skilled playcaller in the league. Throughout his NFL coaching tenure, he has contributed to the development of top-tier quarterbacks and guided successful offenses. We are excited to welcome Kellen to our team.”

While the complete 2024 staff roster for the Eagles is not yet finalized, they have officially confirmed the appointments of both coordinators: Moore as the offensive coordinator and Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator.

At 35 years old, Moore served as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers in 2023 and held the same position in Dallas from 2019 to 2022. Notably, the Eagles had previously interviewed Moore for their head coaching position in 2021 before selecting Sirianni.

During the year-end press conference last month, Sirianni outlined a new coaching structure, emphasizing the need for a new offensive coordinator to take charge of the offense following the departure of Brian Johnson. Sirianni appears poised to adopt a CEO-style approach to coaching in 2024.

In discussing the qualities desired in the next offensive coordinator during the press conference, Sirianni emphasized the importance of introducing fresh ideas to the team’s offensive strategy.

“On January 24, Sirianni expressed our team’s aspirations to evolve across various dimensions and to progress alongside longstanding members. It’s about innovating and embracing change. Unfortunately, Brian is departing at this juncture, but his coaching contributions are deeply appreciated. Over the past three years, we’ve achieved considerable success, with Brian playing a significant role. However, it’s now about infusing fresh perspectives, diverging from the norm of our established group dynamics. We aim to introduce new ideas to invigorate our approach.

Furthermore, Sirianni emphasized the importance of integrating successful elements from the Eagles’ offense of the past three seasons with the innovative insights brought by the new offensive coordinator. This entails harmonizing Sirianni’s strategies with Moore’s vision ahead of the 2024 season.

Regarding Moore’s authority over the offense, it’s noteworthy that the Eagles are reportedly adding Doug Nussmeier as their quarterbacks coach. Nussmeier has previously collaborated with Moore for multiple seasons, first in Dallas and later in Los Angeles.”
