According to Patrick Byrnes of Sports Illustrated, Jones stated, “I can tell you just from my conversations with people around the situation, I think that Jordan [Clarkson] would welcome a trade [to the Knicks] if that’s how it would go down.”
The Knicks are the only team with the necessary assets to lure the Jazz; they still have a couple first-round selections available to sweeten any trade, plus they have Evan Fournier’s contract to function as a salary-filler.
However, one would question if signing Jordan Clarkson is the greatest use of resources given the Knicks’ roster requirements. Still, Miles McBride has been a terrific lead guard off the bench. With Julius Randle serving as their sole natural four, New York could want to consider adding another power forward to their squad.
Nevertheless, Clarkson may provide the Knicks with another player Tom Thibodeau might rely on; at the present, New York is playing Jalen Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo as much as they can. As the season’s final stretch approaches, Clarkson might be able to keep them somewhat fresher.
