It should come as no surprise that interest in the Carolina Panthers head coaching vacancy was high given former offensive coordinator Dave Canales’ remarkable transformation of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ attack. After many weeks, the Buccaneers have identified Liam Coen, a former offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, as their successor.

After serving in the same capacity in 2021, Coen recently completed a one-year term as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Kentucky. Serving as offensive coordinator for the Rams in 2022, Coen collaborated closely with quarterback Baker Mayfield throughout the latter part of the campaign.

Which undrafted free agents from the Rams may join Coen in Tampa Bay?

Dotson Kevin
Kevin Dotson had the breakout season he had been seeking for four years into his career. During a Week 4 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Dotson made his Rams debut. The guard’s performance was sufficient to secure a starting position at right guard for the balance of the season.

Right guard Cody Mauch of the Buccaneers had a strong rookie campaign, but with Aaron Stinnie getting closer to free agency, Tampa Bay may have a left guard spot available. In 2024, it could be difficult for the Buccaneers to pass up a gifted run blocker like Dotson.

The Buccaneers must make tough choices since Lavonte David and Devin White are eligible for free agency. In any case, Troy Reeder is a good depth player at linebacker that the team could want to take into consideration. All five of Reeder’s NFL seasons have been in Los Angeles; he played for the Rams four times and the Chargers once.

In 2021, Reeder had a personal best with 91 tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions during the season, which enabled the Rams to win the Super Bowl. With the ability to become a starter, the linebacker might be a formidable asset for the Buccaneers on special teams.

In the last six weeks of the 2023 season, wide receiver Demarcus Robinson finished with 21 receptions for 319 yards. Due to veteran wide receiver Mike Evans’ decision to test free agency this summer, there are concerns around the Buccaneers’ receiving room.

Even though the Buccaneers have stated that they would want to have Evans return, there could be a big need to fill in in 2024, so all hands might need to be on deck. Trey Palmer would go to WR2 and Chris Godwin would probably take over as a reliable No. 1 receiver if Evans left. Robinson is a third alternative in this situation that might have an instant effect.
