Brody Smith discusses the familial atmosphere experienced during his visit to Tennessee.
Over the recent weekend, Tennessee held its junior day event, attracting numerous promising prospects to campus. Among the attendees was Brody Smith, the offensive tackle from Bearden High School, who holds offers from notable schools such as Colorado, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Tennessee. Following his visit, Smith shared his impressions with Volunteer Country.
Describing his experience, the Bearden lineman expressed satisfaction, stating, “It went really well. I was impressed by the facilities and the hospitality; it’s undeniably one of the better schools I’ve visited.” During his time at the university, Smith had the opportunity to interact with some players, including running back commit Justin Baker and former player Austin Lewis. Smith spoke highly of Baker, noting his friendliness and expressing a desire to block for him on the field.
As an offensive lineman, Smith primarily engaged with offensive line coach Glen Elarbee. Reflecting on their interactions, he mentioned, “I spent most of my time with Coach Elarbee, and it was a positive experience. We discussed various aspects of line play, and our conversation was quite extensive.” Coach Elarbee emphasized the program’s track record of sending players to the professional league, the excellence of the football program, and the familial atmosphere at UT.
Smith left with a favorable impression of Tennessee’s program, noting the family-oriented environment cultivated by head coach Josh Heupel. He expressed a desire to revisit, emphasizing that Tennessee holds a prominent position on his list of preferred schools. Smith appreciates the offensive scheme employed by the Vols, highlighting the balanced and up-tempo approach that allows him to showcase his diverse skills. He concluded, “They are definitely one of the top schools on my list. I’ll certainly be back for another visit.”
