Joakim Dodson pledges his commitment to Tennessee.

Joakim Dodson, the wide receiver from Collierville High School, has officially announced his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers. His decision follows multiple visits from the coaching staff and attending Tennessee’s junior day event. Dodson, standing at 6-1 and weighing 181 pounds, chose the Volunteers over the Missouri Tigers, becoming only the second commit from Tennessee thus far. Speaking to Volunteer Country after his commitment, Dodson expressed his reasons for choosing Tennessee.

He emphasized the strong relationships and trust he developed with the coaching staff, making it an easy decision. Dodson described the atmosphere at Tennessee as feeling like home every time he visits. When asked what set Tennessee apart, he highlighted his excellent rapport with the coaching staff, who had believed in him since his freshman year and supported his development into the player he is today.

Dodson particularly praised Coach Kelsey Pope, with whom he shares a strong connection reminiscent of his father’s coaching. He commended Pope not only as a coach but also as a person, often discussing off-the-field matters as much as football.

Regarding his talents, Dodson sees himself as one of the best receivers nationally, adaptable to various roles on the field and capable of excelling against tough coverage. He expressed enthusiasm for playing alongside his committed teammates, particularly singling out George as someone he looks forward to playing with.

Dodson emphasized his commitment to recruiting other in-state talents to join him at Tennessee, aiming to build something special at Rocky Top. Despite the presence of other talented prospects, Dodson reaffirmed his commitment to Tennessee while keeping his options open.

In summary, Dodson’s commitment underscores his belief in Tennessee’s program and his desire to contribute to its success, both on and off the field.
