Rangers have expressed interest in acquiring the services of Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland. According to journalist Dean Jones, there remains a possibility of Shankland switching clubs to advance his career.
Under Phillipe Clement’s leadership, Rangers have made a promising start in their quest for the Scottish Premiership title by the conclusion of the 2023/24 season. They have shown progress in the Europa League, indicating their ambition to compete at the highest level.
Despite a relatively quiet winter transfer window in 2024, Rangers are expected to be active in the upcoming summer market. Shankland, who has been outstanding in the Scottish Premiership, is touted as a potential target for Rangers, who are closing the gap on rivals Celtic in the title race. Clement’s team could move to the top of the league with a victory in their postponed match.
Shankland has been in excellent form this season, leading the league in goals with 17 so far. His performances have attracted attention from other clubs, although he has indicated a willingness to discuss his future with Hearts despite having 18 months left on his current contract.
During the January transfer window, journalist Jones suggested that a late move from Rangers for Shankland was possible, keeping Hearts fans on edge until the deadline. However, a transfer did not materialize, and Shankland will remain with Hearts at least until the end of the season.
While Cyriel Dessers has provided Rangers with some goal threat this season, Shankland could potentially elevate the team’s performance, aiding their pursuit to surpass Celtic as the dominant force in the Scottish Premiership.
