Sources indicate that Christian Parker, the defensive backs coach for the Broncos, is anticipated to become part of the Eagles’ defensive coaching staff.
According to sources cited by The Denver Post on Monday, it is anticipated that Christian Parker, the defensive backs coach for the Broncos, will depart from Denver to join the defensive coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles. This news was initially reported by ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
Parker has been with the Broncos for the last three seasons, following a two-season tenure as a defensive quality control coach with the Green Bay Packers.
In the previous month, the 32-year-old coach interviewed for defensive coordinator positions with the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots, but those roles were filled by other candidates.
The Eagles, who recently appointed Vic Fangio as their new defensive coordinator, will be Parker’s new team. Parker previously worked under Fangio during the 2021 season when Fangio was the head coach of the Broncos, where the team posted a 7-10 record.
Before entering the NFL, Parker held positions as a defensive analyst at Notre Dame and Texas A&M. He also served as a defensive backs coach at Virginia State and Norfolk State.
Vance Joseph, the defensive coordinator, has consistently lauded Parker. Prior to the commencement of the 2023 season, Joseph referred to Parker as a “star” and a “great partner to work with,” praising his intelligence, diligence, and rapport with players.
During the most recent season, Parker’s coaching contributed to cornerback Pat Surtain II and safety Justin Simmons earning All-Pro honors. Surtain II received recognition from the NFLPA and Pro Football Writers, while Simmons was named to the AP’s second team.
