Brown’s anticipation for the dunk contest has been building over eight years. Since his debut with Boston in the 2016-17 season, the now 27-year-old has established himself as one of the NBA’s most athletic young talents. Despite not being the favored contender against defending champion Mac McClung, Jacob Toppin, and Jamie Jacquez Jr., Brown, a three-time All-Star, enters the contest with a strong reputation.

Throughout this season, Brown has showcased his athleticism by posterizing notable defenders like Rudy Gobert and Clint Capela. In contrast, his competitors McClung and Toppin are G-League players, and Jacquez Jr. is a rookie. Consequently, Brown faces the challenge of meeting the already high expectations set for him as one of the NBA’s top-paid players.

“I believe I’m at the peak of my athleticism,” Brown expressed to reporters following Boston’s recent victory over the Washington Wizards, as reported by CLNS Media video.
