Philadelphia Eagles player asserts that Jason Kelce has zero chance of participating in the NFL next year.

Jason Kelce has emphasized that any decision regarding his future in football will be made on his own terms. Although reports circulated suggesting he informed his Philadelphia Eagles teammates about his retirement, Kelce clarified on his New Heights podcast that his statements were fueled by emotion. However, one teammate believes the veteran center may indeed be considering retirement.

During the week leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, left tackle Jordan Mailata expressed on John Clark’s ART19/Amazon podcast Takeoff that Kelce seemed to be enjoying himself excessively since the Eagles’ elimination from the Wild Card Round. Mailata questioned Kelce’s ability to physically, mentally, and psychologically prepare himself for another season of football, citing Kelce’s relaxed demeanor and engagement in leisure activities such as gambling in casinos.

Mailata is not the sole individual suggesting that Kelce should retire. Merrill Reese, the Eagles’ radio play-by-play announcer, shared similar sentiments during a conversation on 94WIP Afternoons with Ike Reese and Jack Fritz. Reese expressed deep respect and concern for Kelce, acknowledging his contributions as a one-time Super Bowl champion and multiple-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler. Reese highlighted the physical toll Kelce has endured over his 13-year career and emphasized the importance of prioritizing Kelce’s health and well-being by considering retirement.
