Crawford Allan asserts that the Scottish Football Association (SFA) has “taken note” of the situation and learned from it, following the criticism and dispute arising from the Rangers versus Celtic match in late December.

Rangers were furious when their appeal for a penalty due to an Alistair Johnston handball was denied, with VAR referee Willie Collum later revealing images of an offside in the preceding play to Sky Sports, rendering the penalty decision irrelevant.

The offside image came on Sky Sports

Rangers then requested access to the audio from the VAR control room post-match and called for increased transparency from the governing body.

Allan, who oversees refereeing at the SFA, clarified that their intention was simply to be transparent when they shared the images with the broadcaster, albeit 15 minutes into the second half of the game.
