Kerr achieves his 500th career victory as the Warriors triumph over the Jazz.

Klay Thompson appeared on the “Warriors Halftime” segment to share his initial thoughts on entering the game as a substitute and reaching his 15,000th career point. The Warriors secured a thrilling 140-137 victory against the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center on Thursday, marking a significant milestone for head coach Steve Kerr.

This win represents Kerr’s 500th career regular-season triumph as an NBA coach, making him the fifth-fastest individual in league history to reach this achievement. Kerr was greeted with congratulations from Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, whose 1,377 wins hold the top spot in NBA history, welcoming him to the esteemed 500-win club.

Kerr accomplished this feat in just 764 games, showcasing an impressive .654 winning percentage throughout his ten seasons as the Warriors’ head coach.

Thursday’s triumph improved the Golden State Warriors to a 26-25 record for the 2023-24 NBA season. More significantly, it provided the Warriors with a 2.5 game advantage over the Jazz for the Western Conference’s No. 10 seed, securing their position for the Play-In Tournament.

This milestone adds to Kerr’s extensive list of accomplishments during his illustrious tenure with the Golden State Warriors, including four NBA titles, six Finals appearances, and an outstanding postseason record of 99-41.

With the NBA All-Star break approaching this weekend, Kerr will have to wait until next Thursday when the Warriors host the Lakers at Chase Center to pursue his 501st victory.
