Samari Matthews Plans Trip to Tennessee.
High school cornerback Samari Matthews from William Amos Hough High School has arranged an unofficial visit to Tennessee, scheduled for April 3. The highly skilled defender is ranked as the No. 32 prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, and has received 28 offers, including notable programs like Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
In his first two high school seasons, Matthews has recorded 46 tackles, two interceptions, and two tackles for loss. He has previously visited Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and South Carolina since his sophomore season but will be exploring Knoxville, Tennessee, and the Vols for the first time.
Tennessee defensive backs coach Willie Martinez and his team have been successful in recruiting top-tier cornerbacks early in their recruitment process, although they have yet to secure a commitment from a top-100 prospect at the position.
Tennessee was among Matthews’s initial three offers, which holds significance in the eyes of prospects. The program has a history of extending early offers to elite talents, establishing strong relationships early on, which has proven beneficial in recent recruiting cycles. The visit will provide an opportunity for Tennessee to further impress Matthews and potentially secure his commitment.
