The situation regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback position is anything but settled, with apparent disagreement even within the organization on the best course of action.

According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there is internal discord regarding the future of the position within the Steelers organization. While some advocate for Mason Rudolph’s return and a chance to start following his relatively strong performance towards the end of the season, others still support Kenny Pickett. However, the enthusiasm the organization once had for Pickett has waned, with increasing doubts about his long-term capability to lead the team.

Adding complexity is Rudolph’s impending free agency. If the Steelers wish to retain him, they’ll likely need to extend a competitive offer and genuinely consider him as a contender for the starting role over Pickett.

Alternatively, the Steelers could explore the option of bringing in an external quarterback to challenge Pickett. At present, though, the team’s quarterback situation lacks clarity, even internally.
