How did the Detroit Pistons players perform in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge?

Despite not having any players in the NBA All-Star game, the Detroit Pistons were still represented in the weekend’s events. Two young players from the team participated in Friday’s Rising Stars Challenge, where emerging NBA and G-League talents showcased their skills. Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren, both selected to compete, were on the same team, Team Tamika. Though their team was eliminated in the semifinals after just one game, both Pistons players made meaningful contributions.Ivey had a standout performance in the Rising Stars Challenge, showcasing his versatility by contributing in various aspects of the game. He tallied eight points, three rebounds, one assist, and an impressive four steals. Additionally, Ivey caught attention for engaging in a verbal exchange with Indiana Pacers forward Bennedict Mathurin during the game.

Duren contributed two points, one rebound, and one steal during his eight minutes on the court for Team Tamika.

Ivey, currently in his second season with the Pistons after being drafted fifth overall in 2022, has appeared in 50 games this season, with averages of 15.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

Duren, aged 20, was chosen 13th overall by the Pistons in 2022. This season, the young center has been showcasing his skills with a double-double average of 14.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.

Although their time in the spotlight was brief, the Pistons’ emerging young core made a notable presence at All-Star weekend this year.
