Georgia issues statement in response to resignations of two staff members.

The Georgia Bulldogs experienced the departure of two coaching staff members this week, with the announcement of special teams coordinator Scott Cochran and offensive analyst Darrell Dickey resigning from their positions.

In response, the University of Georgia released a statement indicating that Kirk Benedict, previously a special teams analyst, would be promoted to special teams coordinator for the upcoming 2024 season. However, a replacement for Dickey has yet to be named.

Darrell Dickey had recently joined the Bulldogs’ staff for the 2023 season, while Scott Cochran had been a significant figure on the coaching staff since 2020. Cochran’s association with Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart dates back to their time together at Alabama. Smart expressed gratitude to both men for their contributions to Georgia football and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Smart remarked, “I want to thank Scott and Darrell for their contributions to Georgia football. We wish them all the best moving forward.”

Although the core elements of the Bulldogs’ 2024 roster and coaching staff remain stable, the departure of Cochran and Dickey, with their wealth of experience and knowledge, will undoubtedly leave a void at some point during the Bulldogs’ 2024 season.
