Charlie Mulgrew, a former Celtic defender, and Ross McCormack, previously a striker for Rangers, have both embarked on short-term stints in the 11th tier of English football. Mulgrew retired last year after playing for Dundee United, while McCormack has been without a club since departing from Liversedge in 2023, following brief spells with Motherwell and Aldershot Town.

The news of their signings on short contracts was disclosed by Doncaster City, a team in the Central Midlands League North Division, on Friday. Mulgrew, known for his successful tenure at Celtic where he secured five Premiership titles, and McCormack, who started his career at Rangers and later excelled in the English Football League (EFL), will be joining the ranks of Doncaster City.

Additionally, Wes Hoolahan, famed for his time at Norwich City, and Scott McLaughlin, formerly of Airdrie and Livingston, have also been recruited by Doncaster City. All four players made their debut in Saturday’s 3-1 victory against Dearne and District, attracting a crowd of over 800 spectators at the seventh tier of English football.
