The Senators spark uproar in the Maple Leafs community by securing a 5-3 victory.
This game epitomized the perfect rivalry showdown, characterized by numerous scoring opportunities, shifts in momentum, a lack of defensive prowess, and plenty of antics. It even produced a new memorable moment in the Battle of Ontario saga, culminating in a victory for the Sens. What an exhilarating match.
The Sens endured a woeful start, which some may attribute to their extended break leading up to the game. However, I personally believe it was due to the decision to skate out to a different song instead of Danger Flutes. You just don’t mess with Danger Flutes.
Nevertheless, Toronto quickly found the net almost immediately after the game began, and shortly thereafter, it appeared they had scored again. Fortunately, that goal was disallowed due to being offside—an aspect of the game I’ve always appreciated.
Despite this stroke of luck, it seemed like a blowout was in the making. The team appeared to still be in vacation mode. It felt like the right time to switch off the TV and revisit the game in a few days.
But hold on a moment! Korpisalo made a crucial save, the Sens created a few scoring opportunities, and just like that, we were back in contention. Claude Giroux’s goal towards the end of the first period leveled the score and reignited our optimism.
