We are currently in the midst of the NBA All-Star Break, where the All-Star game featured seven former players from Kentucky, the highest representation from any college.
In the Dunk Contest, Jaylen Brown, a star player for the Boston Celtics, honored the late Terrence Clarke by wearing his high school jersey while executing a dunk. Clarke, who played for Kentucky in the 2020-21 season, tragically lost his life in a car accident before the NBA Draft. This heartbreaking event deeply affected the Big Blue Nation and the basketball community, as Clarke was cherished by fans and teammates both on and off the court. Born and raised in Boston, Clarke attended Brewster Academy.
Given Brown’s strong connection to the city and his entire career with the Celtics, it’s understandable why he chose to pay tribute to Clarke during this significant event. After the NBA Dunk Contest, Brown shared with reporters, “Terrence was like my little bro. Definitely a Boston connection. I wanted to have a purpose in everything that I was doing. I wanted everything to have a message behind it, and I think that’s what I did tonight.”
While Brown secured second place in the NBA Dunk Contest, surpassing former Kentucky Wildcat Jacob Toppin, he couldn’t dethrone the reigning champion, Mac McClung, who secured back-to-back titles.
