The Celtic fans were taken by surprise by Carl Starfelt’s transfer last summer. With the departure of Ange Postecoglou and Jota, losing one of the club’s better defenders was unwelcome.
Although Starfelt faced criticism from some quarters, he formed a successful defensive partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers, contributing to winning five out of six trophies, including a record-breaking eighth domestic treble.
Despite speculation that Starfelt left because his partner, Jacinta Galabadaarachchi, moved to Portugal, journalist Michael Gannon dismissed this notion. He argued that Starfelt received a more appealing offer in Spain and chose to pursue it.
Gannon emphasized that the reasons circulating about Starfelt leaving to follow Jacynta were unfounded. Despite his imperfections, many agree that Starfelt was a valuable defender for Celtic.
