During the previous summer, Diego Llorente of Leeds United made a return to AS Roma through a loan arrangement, with a requirement to purchase him if specific conditions are met. Throughout this season, the defender has appeared 29 times across various competitions and has maintained his position in the team following Daniele De Rossi’s appointment after José Mourinho’s departure last month.

Despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain in acquiring the player owned by Leeds during the winter transfer window, AS Roma refused to let him go. Metropolitan Magazine has reported Roma’s intention to retain the 30-year-old until the season’s end, partly due to financial considerations.

According to the publication, there’s already talk in the transfer market about the Spaniard, and Roma might undertake a challenging operation to secure his permanent transfer. To do so, the Italian club will need to pay a €5 million clause to Leeds, regardless of whether the specified conditions are met.

The prevailing sentiment is that Roma wouldn’t be able to acquire him for a lower fee anyway, so the €5 million represents a favorable deal. With other clubs showing interest in the Leeds United player, this presents Roma with an opportunity to make a profit from his sale. Metropolitan Magazine suggests that PSG might make a decisive move for Llorente by offering €10-12 million after the season concludes.

Roma’s strategy involves purchasing Llorente from Leeds and then selling him for at least €10 million in the summer, which could significantly bolster their financial situation.
