Apisai Koroisau is set to lead the Wests Tigers once more in the 2024 Telstra Premiership, having been officially appointed captain during the club’s season launch event. John Bateman, also in his second season with the team, will serve as vice-captain.

The NRL squad for 2024 was welcomed by over 200 attendees, including directors, sponsors, elite members, player partners, staff, and other stakeholders, at a Sydney harborside venue on Wednesday evening.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Koroisau stated his excitement in leading what he described as a tightly-knit group, emphasizing the team’s unity and commitment to their goals.

Reflecting on his experience from the previous season as captain, Koroisau expressed eagerness for the upcoming leadership role and conveyed pride in representing Wests Tigers.

Head coach Benji Marshall emphasized the importance of trust and connection among team members, highlighting these as fundamental to the team’s success.

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson made a commitment to take action towards the club’s success, urging supporters to become members and be part of the club’s journey.

The club revealed its 2024 Heritage Jersey, a replica of the original jersey worn in their inaugural match against the Brisbane Broncos in 2000, which will be worn again in the upcoming season.

The launch event saw the presence of former players, including the club’s first captain Darren Senter, along with Life Members Chris Lawrence and Pat Richards, who discussed the forthcoming Wests Tigers Alumni initiative.

Wests Tigers will conclude their preseason with a final trial against the Dragons in Mudgee before facing the Raiders in Round 2 of the Telstra Premiership following a bye in Round 1.
