The Broncos face a substantial $85 million dead cap hit if they release Wilson early in 2024. However, this burden could be mitigated by delaying his release until after June 1, spreading the dead money over the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Despite the swirling rumors about Wilson’s potential tenure with the Broncos, the listing of his mansion in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, indicates a likely departure from Denver. Wilson and his wife Ciara are currently entertaining offers for the property, which was a record-setting purchase in the Denver area in 2022.
Acquired via a blockbuster trade from the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson’s stint with the Broncos didn’t unfold as expected. Despite high hopes, his performance in 2022 fell short, resulting in the team missing the playoffs. Subsequent efforts under new head coach Nathaniel Hackett in 2023 showed improvement, but the team still fell short of postseason success.
