Mississippi State defensive lineman commit Jeramiah McCloud discusses his offer from UF and intends to make a visit during the upcoming spring.
After earning MVP honors at the recent Under Armour camp in Orlando, Jeramiah McCloud, a three-star defensive lineman from Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County, has attracted attention from several new programs. One such team that recently intensified its efforts and extended an offer was the University of Florida. The offer came from the newly appointed defensive line coach, Gerald Chatman, who thoroughly reviewed both McCloud’s camp footage and his performance from the previous junior season.
“Florida has a new d-line coach,” McCloud remarked. “He had been analyzing my film and recently watched footage from the camp I attended. After comparing my game tape with my camp performance, he was surprised that I hadn’t received an offer yet. I’ve been in touch with Coach Larry Williams at Florida, and he reached out to me earlier this week. He asked about the schools I planned to visit this spring. I mentioned the ones that had already extended offers to me. Florida wasn’t on that list. I explained that I typically visit schools where I’ve been offered a scholarship. Coach Williams then connected me with Coach Chatman, and they swiftly arranged for the offer. Since Coach Chatman is new, he’s still sorting out which players had or hadn’t received offers before his arrival, as well as identifying prospects he’s interested in recruiting.”
