Rangers have been linked with several strikers over the years with Jonson Clarke-Harris being one of those said to be considered.

Seen as a potential understudy to Alfredo Morelos or a plan B for then Gers boss Steven Gerrard, the Peterborough United forward was watched by scouts reporting back to Auchenhowie.

Out of contract in a matter of months, going from being linked with Rangers to not playing in League One will be a bitter pill to swallow for Jonson Clarke-Harris who is no long the player once valued at a reported £5m.

He turns 30 in the summer and will be unlikely to have top end Championship or clubs like Rangers chasing his signature.

To make matters worse, he’s started just once this year.

Not exactly the way to attract potential suitors or to land yourself one last big pay day.

At his peak, Clarke-Harris was a 25 goal a season striker and the sort of finisher that most clubs would love to have in their squad.
