Queen’s Park have added far-travelled striker Cillian Sheridan to their ranks with the three times capped Republic of Ireland internationalist signing on until the end of this season.
Sheridan, who boasts a tally of over 100 career goals, debuted as a Celtic player in 2007 and remained with the club until 2010. During this period, the now 34-year-old spent time on loan at Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle, and St Johnstone.
Following his tenure at Celtic, Cillian ventured to Bulgaria, joining CSKA Sofia, before returning to St Johnstone for a second loan stint in 2011/12, where he played alongside Assistant Head Coach Liam Craig.
In the 2012–2013 season, Sheridan played for Kilmarnock before embarking on football ventures in Cyprus, Poland, New Zealand, and Israel. His journey led him back to Scotland in 2021, signing with Dundee, and later moving to Inverness Caledonian Thistle on a short-term contract last summer.
Expressing his thoughts on the acquisition, Head Coach Davidson remarked, “We’ve sought to enhance our team’s experience, and with players like Cillian, who possess extensive knowledge of the game, we’re better positioned to develop our squad. His physical presence upfront and ability to threaten defenses by running behind them add depth to our attacking options.”
Sheridan himself commented, “Having trained with the club for a few weeks now, I’ve been impressed by both the people and the facilities. I eagerly anticipate contributing to the team’s efforts from now until the season’s conclusion.”
Club President Graeme Shields added, “Cillian’s seasoned presence offers us another dimension in attack, and I’m excited to witness his contributions on the field.”
On a different note, recent signing Josh Hinds’s registration process has hit a snag, as the Scottish Football Association faces unresolved issues with a club in England, prompting Hinds to part ways with Queen’s Park.
