CINCINNATI — The Kansas City Chiefs signed punter Matt Araiza on Thursday.
He’s a popular special teamer and a player that Bengals fans have mentioned over the past few months as a potential target for Cincinnati.
The Chiefs have one of the best punters in the NFL in Tommy Townsend, but he’s set to become a free agent next month. Araiza gives Kansas City another option just in case they don’t resign Townsend.
The Bills drafted Araiza in the 2022 NFL Draft, but cut him that summer after he was accused of rape. The case was dismissed in December.
He previously worked out for the Jets, but ultimately lands in Kansas City where he could face the Bills and the Bengals next season.
