Ex-NFL Quarterback Expresses Worries Regarding Russell Wilson’s Future

Russell Wilson’s time with the Denver Broncos has been marked by turmoil. In 2022, he inked a staggering five-year contract extension valued at $245 million, even before taking the field for the team. However, two seasons into his tenure, Wilson’s performance has fallen short of expectations, prompting Denver to contemplate moving on from the veteran quarterback.

As speculation swirls about his next destination, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Atlanta Falcons are reportedly top contenders. Nevertheless, concerns about Wilson’s future in the league have surfaced. ESPN Analyst and former NFL QB Tim Hasselbeck recently expressed doubts about Wilson’s attractiveness as a quarterback option for any team.

Hasselbeck suggested on “Get Up” that Wilson might not find a suitable landing spot in the NFL, citing his age and perceived decline in performance. Questions also arise regarding Wilson’s leadership qualities, typically sought after in veteran quarterbacks.

If the Broncos decide to part ways with Wilson, they’ll face a hefty $85 million cap hit. Considering the substantial financial investment Wilson commands, even teams in need of a quarterback may hesitate to pursue him.
