The Blazers have inked Ashton Hagans to a two-way deal.
The Portland Trail Blazers have transitioned point guard Ashton Hagans from a 10-day contract to a two-way deal, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:
“Sources tell ESPN that the Portland Trail Blazers are signing G Ashton Hagans on a two-way contract. Hagans, who went undrafted out of Kentucky, earned recognition as a G League All-Star for the Rip City Remix.”
Hagans made his debut for the Blazers earlier this month under the terms of a 10-day contract, featuring in four games before the All-Star break.
The Blazers had an available two-way slot after recently awarding center Duop Reath a standard NBA contract. Currently, their other two-way players are cccccc and Ibou Badji.
The addition of Hagans provides valuable depth at the guard position for the Blazers. With Shaedon Sharpe sidelined due to abdominal surgery and Malcolm Brogdon dealing with elbow tendonitis and other injuries, Portland’s guard rotation comprises Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, and Dalano Banton.
This season, Hagans has played in four games for the Blazers, averaging 2.8 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 15 minutes per game. He previously appeared in two games for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2021, totaling four minutes of playing time after going undrafted following two seasons with Kentucky basketball.
Afterward, Hagans spent two seasons in the G League with the Raptors 905, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, and Greensboro Swarm. He then signed a training camp contract with the Blazers last summer before joining the Remix.
