Cats extend an offer to Matthew Hibner, a transfer from Michigan.

The Kentucky Wildcats football program has experienced some notable changes in recent weeks, including the departure of Liam Coen and the reported addition of new offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan. Another development for the Cats is the offer mad Michigan Wolverines tight end Matthew Hibner.

Hibner took to Twitter on Saturday to share the news of the offer. With Michigan undergoing changes due to the departure of head coach Jim Harbaugh, Hibner opted to enter the transfer portal in January, seeking a more prominent role in an offense despite Michigan’s recent National Championship victory.

Kentucky, seeing potential in Hibner, has extended an offer to him, believing they can tap into his abilities. Hibner, originally a 4-star recruit and ranked as the seventh-best tight end in the class of 2020 by 247 Sports, did not receive an offer from Kentucky during his initial recruitment from Virginia, a state less frequently recruited under Mark Stoops.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches tall, Hibner has been part of the Michigan program since 2020. While he didn’t see action in his first two seasons, he has played in 20 games over the past two years, primarily contributing on special teams. Despite limited playing time, Hibner managed just two receptions for 15 yards during this period.
