NEWS: Ex-Employee Files Lawsuit Against Former Denver Broncos Quarterback Over Disturbing Harassment Claims
The Denver Broncos chose Chad Kelly, a former Ole Miss quarterback and the nephew of Buffalo Bills great Jim Kelly, as the final pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
After a successful stint at Ole Miss, Kelly gained attention during the preseason with the Broncos, sparking enthusiasm among fans who hoped to see him play amid the team’s struggles with consistency at the quarterback position from 2017-2018.
During the 2018 season, there was speculation that Kelly might replace starting quarterback Case Keenum, but this never materialized. However, Kelly’s time with the Broncos took a bizarre turn when he was involved in an incident at Von Miller’s Halloween party, where he entered a stranger’s home dressed as a cowboy and was mistaken for an intruder, resulting in his departure from the team.
Following his departure from the NFL, Kelly attempted to secure positions on practice squads and as a backup quarterback, but without success. He eventually moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he found unexpected success with the Toronto Argonauts.
In his debut season as the starting quarterback for the Argonauts in 2023, Kelly was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player. Leading the team to a 16-2 record, he tied the league record for regular-season victories and set a franchise best. Kelly boasted a remarkable 93.8% win rate in the 15 out of 16 games he started, completing 270 out of 394 passes for 4,123 yards, with 23 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
