The Lions are scheduled to welcome Qwan’tez Stiggers and Mathieu Betts for a pre-draft visit.

The Detroit Lions have made moves in the CFL market this offseason by securing Mathieu Betts, the reigning Most Outstanding Defensive Player, with a free agent contract.

Now, general manager Brad Holmes is gearing up to welcome Qwan’tez Stiggers, the league’s reigning Most Outstanding Rookie, for a pre-Draft Top-30 visit, as reported by NFL correspondent Aaron Wilson.

Stiggers, a cornerback, has taken an unconventional path to professional football, having not played a single snap of college football. He initially intended to enroll at Lane College in Tennessee but withdrew after the passing of his father in 2020.

Without college football experience, Stiggers began working as a Door Dash driver before eventually joining the Fan Controlled Football League. Subsequently, he signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL, contemplating a career in the XFL as well.

During his time with the Argonauts, Stiggers emerged as a standout player, amassing 53 defensive tackles and five interceptions in the 2023 season. His performance earned him an invitation to the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he excelled and garnered attention for his professional potential, despite not receiving an invite to the NFL Combine, which commences Tuesday.

The Lions are reportedly seeking cornerback assistance following struggles at the position in 2023. Additionally, Detroit has brought in Deshea Townsend, a two-time Super Bowl champion as a player, as their new cornerbacks coach and defensive passing game coordinator.
