Kieran McKenna discusses setbacks due to injuries in victory over Birmingham.

“Right-sided attacker Wes Burns had to exit the match in the 20th minute, while Nathan Broadhead was substituted shortly after the one-hour mark,” McKenna explained.

“I would say that’s the only downside of today,” McKenna remarked. “Wes seems to have strained his calf, Nathan likely strained his thigh, and Conor (Chaplin, who was substituted in the 90th minute) suffered a heavy knock.

“Consider this, we’ve played five games in 15 days, and these players are giving their all. It’s been an intense period, and unfortunately, today we’ve experienced two muscle injuries. We need to mitigate the impact of that as much as possible.

“We now have a free midweek, which is crucial. Next week, we have a lengthy journey to familiar territory (Plymouth), and we’ll make every effort this week to ensure we’re as prepared as possible.”

Despite the setbacks, Ipswich Town remains third in the Championship table, tied on points with second-place Leeds, with 12 games remaining.
