John Harston sent a message to the Celtic players after watching his old club battle back to a 3-1 win over Motherwell this afternoon.
The former Celtic hero was no stranger to a battle himself when as part of an all-conquering Martin O’Neill team he delivered a treble and a European final in his time at the Hoops.
The 3-1 win at Fir Park keeps Celtic within touching distance of Rangers at the top of the table and as Hartson praised the team for their fightback he also delivered a stark message to the players for the rest of the season.
Hartson said on social media channel X, “Good 3pts for the Hoops.. 2nd half was so much better.. players can’t afford to pick it up whenever they like.. it’s got to be more consistent like it was in the 2nd half.. for the rest of the season.. #morebelief.”
It looks like Hartson is sending a warning to the players who he thinks are possibly thinking they can coast to the title this season.
It really was a game of two halves against The Steelmen this afternoon. A lacklustre first-half performance was in stark contrast to a second half that saw Celtic come out attacking at Fir Park.
Every single player looked nervous every time they got the ball in the first 45 minutes.
