Rams Set to Bring on Former Eagles Defensive Assistant Sean Desai – NFL Tracking
FEB 25 DESAI HIRED? The Los Angeles Rams are continuing to augment their coaching staff with fresh faces.
As per a report by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Sunday, the Rams are poised to bring aboard former Eagles defensive assistant Sean Desai in a ‘senior defensive role’.
Desai has held the position of defensive coordinator twice in his career. His initial stint was with the Chicago Bears in 2021, followed by another with the Eagles last season.
Desai’s tenure with the Eagles came to an end after he was dismissed by head coach Nick Sirianni following the team’s Wild Card loss.
FEB 23 CAP ON THE RISE According to an announcement from the NFL, the league’s salary cap is scheduled to experience an unprecedented surge for the 2024 season. This adjustment will elevate the cap to $255.4 million, providing teams with an additional $30 million this offseason.
“The unprecedented $30 million increase per club in this year’s salary cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic, as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season,” stated the NFL in its announcement.
With this increase, the Rams will have approximately $46 million in total cap space.
In essence, this enhanced flexibility will enable the Rams to retain impactful players they might have otherwise lost, such as Kevin Dotson, or pursue significant free agents like Brian Burns or Danielle Hunter.
FEB 18 EX-RAMS RB JOINS RAIDERS’ STAFF Former St. Louis Rams running back Carnell “Cadillac” Williams is making his NFL coaching debut, reportedly joining the Las Vegas Raiders as the team’s running backs coach.
Williams had a brief stint with the Rams in 2011, primarily serving as a backup. During his 11 games, including just one start, he rushed for 361 yards and one touchdown.
However, Williams is best remembered for his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent six seasons and earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2005.
Since retiring after the 2011 season, Williams has transitioned into coaching. He spent the last five seasons at his alma mater Auburn, even stepping in as interim head coach late in the 2022 season.
