Remarks: Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson’s appearance at a Red Wings event coincides with a surge in offensive performance.

While the Detroit team is currently in their offseason phase, fans in the city continue to show their admiration and support for the 2023 Lions squad, which made a remarkable playoff run. Previously, during the NFC Championship in January, there were chants of “Jared Goff” at Little Caesars Arena during a hockey game, indicating the widespread enthusiasm for the Lions. Recently, during a match between the Detroit Red Wings and the St. Louis Blues, there was another intersection between football and hockey as Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson was invited to participate in the ceremonial goal horn. The home team dominated the game, defeating the visiting Blues 6-1, with an impressive four-goal first period. Coach Derek Lalonde, who has expressed his admiration for the Lions’ management, jokingly credited them for some of the positive energy that led to the Red Wings’ victory. Additionally, there were reports of “Jared Goff” chants resurfacing during the hockey game, indicating the ongoing support for the Lions. However, there might have been some mixed feelings among Detroit Lions players, as it was revealed that a rookie tight end from the St. Louis area, who previously supported the Blues, found himself on the losing side against the Red Wings, despite the efforts of players like Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, who had visited Lions training camp the previous year.
