Mauricio Pochettino is at risk of being fired if Chelsea fails to defeat Leeds.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is facing increased pressure at Stamford Bridge following the team’s loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final. Journalist Dean Jones has indicated that Pochettino may be on the verge of dismissal if Chelsea fails to secure a victory against Leeds United.

The current season has been challenging for Pochettino’s Chelsea, languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League. Despite having an opportunity to revitalize their campaign by winning the Carabao Cup, Chelsea suffered a defeat in extra time to a youthful Liverpool side fielded by Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea’s prospects for a strong finish in the Premier League and European qualification look bleak. Sitting in 11th place, they are 17 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. The Champions League qualification, which would have been an expectation given the substantial investment by Todd Boehly, seems increasingly unlikely.

The MailOnline reported in February that Chelsea hesitates to terminate Pochettino’s contract due to concerns about Financial Fair Play implications. The financial burden of compensating the Argentine manager and his staff is a significant deterrent for the club.

The recent loss to Liverpool, despite their injury woes, has heightened worries for Boehly and the Chelsea hierarchy. While reaching the Carabao Cup final is commendable, the disappointing outcome against Liverpool’s young squad raises questions about Pochettino’s future. Although an immediate dismissal is uncertain, a defeat against Leeds in the FA Cup at home could spell disaster for the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.
