The New Jersey Devils have announced the firing of head coach Lindy Ruff, with associate coach Travis Green stepping in until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Tom Fitzgerald, president and general manager of the Devils, emphasized the organization’s commitment to high standards and competitiveness, citing the need for change due to the team’s current performance. Despite Ruff’s positive attributes, including his role in developing young players and his personal qualities, the decision was made in the interest of the team’s success. Green, formerly head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, brings a wealth of coaching experience across various levels of hockey. His appointment reflects the team’s determination to regain momentum and pursue success. Green’s debut as head coach will be against the Florida Panthers at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
